Con la conducción de Nick Jonas, se realizó la ceremonia de los Billboard 2021 , que empezó premiando fuera de cámaras a la revelación del pop BTS y a la colombiana Karol G y que abrió la transmisión con un par de shows que reunían a los nuevos ídolos del pop. Arrancaron Dj Khaled, H.E.R y el trío de Atlanta Migos al aire libre y los siguió Doja Cat con SZA. Con ustedes, la lista completa de ganadores de los Billboard Music Awards 2021.
Pink recibió el premio especial Icono Billboard y Drake se llevó fue homenajeado como Artista de la década.
Los otros invitados a la tarima fueron Glass Animals, Demi Lovato, Sia, Post Malone, Bad Bunny , Pink, Alicia Keys, Duran Duran y los más ganadores de la noche The Weeknd y BTS, que presentó por primera vez su nueva canción, Butter.
La agrupación de K-pop se anotó una victoria en tres categorías: Top dúo/grupo, Top Song Sales y Top Social Artist. Además, la colombiana Karol G recibió el premio a Artista latina del año. The Weeknd, quien curiosamente fue ignorado por los Grammy , se llevó el tradicional premio como Artista top del Hot 100 y acumuló 10 estatuillas.
